CHOOSING A SURGEON
As with any surgical procedure, it is imperative to choose a surgeon who is not only qualified to perform your surgery – but one who is highly skilled and who has significant experience in the procedure. We have performed hundreds of successful procedures using our specialized techniques. Aesthetic procedures require great skill as well as meticulous planning and an artistic eye to ensure optimum, natural results. Dr. Simmons is an expert in his field.
PROVEN EXPERIENCE
A South Carolina native, Dr. Simmons received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine and his residency in Plastic Surgery at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center. He also completed a fellowship in Craniofacial and Microvascular Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital - named 20 times as America's #1 hospital by U.S. News and World Report. Prior to joining our practice, Dr. Simmons was on the staff at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where he worked with that institution's prestigious Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic. Dr. Simmons also served as assistant professor at the University of Maryland Medical System.
BOARD CERTIFICATION
When considering a surgeon, you should understand the board certification process and requirements. Dr. Oliver Simmons is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and by the ABFPRS - the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Board certification signifies that a surgeon has achieved the rigorous educational, training, and surgical requirements of that board – including internships and significant surgical experience. Dr. Simmons is also “Fellowship trained - ” which means that he has several more years of surgical training and experience than surgeons who are not fellowship trained. He has published a number of peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters.
