Medical Skin Care Chemical Peels

Chemical peels do not stop the aging process – peels do correct,
 refresh and refine aging skin

Chemical peels are a safe, effective way to remove outer layers of sun-damaged, blemished, unevenly pigmented or blotchy skin.  These peels are available in three strengths to accomplish results at three levels of depth.  Peels are another option for facial rejuvenation to promote fresh new skin growth – with the absence of blemishes, blotches and wrinkles.

Chemical peels are appropriate for many skin problems and all skin colors and types.  The peel can work to correct the problem, and then our knowledgeable staff will work with you to customize a skin care program to continue smoothing, firming and hydrating your skin.  Our chemical peels are as “skin friendly” as possible by being “chirally correct” and quality minded.  All products are alcohol, fragrance, and witch hazel free.

A good chemical exfoliation can turn back the clock by refreshing and redefining the skin’s surface.

CHEMICAL PEELS PROCEDURE:
Chemical peels come in three different strengths – light, medium and deep.  Each one is used to accomplish the individual outcomes that are needed.  The Correct peel for your needs will be chosen during your personal consultation with our Aesthetician who will tailor a treatment plan just for you.

Light Peels contain AHA and BHA acids (Alphahydroxy acids and Betahydroxy acids) which are the mildest form of peels, and are used to smooth rough, dry skin, and to improve the texture of sun-damaged skin and mild acne.  A bleaching agent can be added to correct or improve pigmentation problems and the AHA peel may be used as a pre-treatment in preparation for a TCA peel or for laser resurfacing.

Medium Peels contain TCA – Tricholoracetic acid to treat skin with moderate sun damage, surface wrinkles or uneven tone and/or pigment abnormalities.

Deep Peels contain Phenol acid – the strongest, most effective, deepest peel used today.  Phenol peels are used to smooth coarse wrinkles, remove pre-cancerous growths, treat blotchiness – and to render the most dramatic results of all the peels available.

Using the correct peel solution for your tailored treatment plan, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and the solution is applied to your skin. The solution may be left on for several minutes – depending upon your treatment plan.  After the solution is removed you may experience flaking, redness, and/or dryness as new skin begins to replace the removed layer. With light and medium peels – you will be able to resume normal activities immediately.  Deeper peels involve more sloughing time and a return to normal activities will vary with each patient.  You’ll be given complete instructions about what to do at home after your peel treatment.

Not every physician or aesthetician is qualified to perform chemical peel treatments.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT CHEMICAL PEELS:

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

Am I a good candidate for a chemical peel?
If you have any or all of the concerns already mentioned – and a strong desire to safely and effectively correct these problems – you could be an ideal candidate.  You must be in otherwise good health and have realistic expectations.

How will I know which level peel is right for me?
Our knowledgeable, highly trained staff will assess each patient's needs and tailor a treatment program to meet those specific needs and goals.

Are the treatments painful?
Each patient responds differently to the treatments. Our Aesthetician will make sure you are totally comfortable before treatment begins and that you remain so throughout the treatment.

Do Men and Women get peel treatments?
Yes.  Men today are equally as concerned about a more youthful, healthy appearance and come in for peels to address their concerns.

How long does a treatment take?
This depends upon the size and number of areas being treated.  Treatment usually takes from 30 minutes to an hour based upon your customized treatment plan.
