IPL – Intense Pulsed Light Photo Facial - is a high-tech, no downtime procedure to enhance the appearance of your skin through a series of soft, gentle treatments.  Performed right in our office, IPL treatments promote improvements in pink or brown discoloration, enlarged acne scars, skin texture, tone, laxity and wrinkles. IPL PHOTO FACIAL TREATMENT

After you are made totally comfortable, the handheld wand is passed over the treatment area.  The pulsed light waves pass through the skin to the deeper dermal layers to promote the rejuvenation process. There is minimal discomfort – our patients tell us it’s like a rubber band snap. You will be able to reapply makeup and go about your normal activities right after your treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT IPL TREATMENTS

Are results seen immediately?
After your first treatment your skin tone will look and feel smoother.  If you are treated for hyperpigmentation or significant freckling, your skin will darken in appearance at first and then gradually lighten. After 1-2 treatments you will begin to notice other changes such as sunspots fading, pore reduction and wrinkles softening.

What is a treatment like?
A session takes between 45-60 minutes, depending upon the area being treated.  You are made comfortable in our laser suite and once treatment begins – a handheld instrument is passed over the treatment area – you will notice only a light stinging sensation.  Sedation is not necessary – but topical anesthetic is used if needed.

What will I look like after a treatment?
Your skin may appear a little reddened and you may experience a burning sensation.  This passes quickly – within a couple of hours.  Most of Dr.Gunnlaugssons’ patients are able to return to normal activity after a treatment or within a short time.

Am I a good candidate for Photo Facial Treatments?
If you are concerned about multiple skin imperfections, you are in otherwise good health, and you are mature in your expectations – you are probably a perfect candidate for this treatment.  During your consultation, we can determine if this is the correct treatment for you.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically a series of 5-6 treatments, spaced at 3-4 week intervals is recommended to achieve optimum results.  CCI, who is an expert in all laser treatments, will be able to determine what you need and will tailor a treatment plan just for you.
